Major pollution event at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor

Image
A plume of an unknown substance has polluted the Baltimore’s inner harbor waterfront, this afternoon Thursday, June 28th, 2018. Investigators have determined that it could possibly be from a storm drain leakage, this was later confirmed to be true and was caused by a drainage improvement project according to a report by the Baltimore Sun. Investigators are calling this a “major pollution event”, however, the leak is non-hazardous according to the Waterkeeper team. If the inner harbor wasn’t already dirty enough this just made it worse. I don’t think that anyone should be swimming or going anywhere near the water at this point. I was hoping that one day in the future the inner harbors water would be clean enough to swim in however at this pace it will be too toxic.

Spider-Man: Far from Home

Tom Holland, the actor who is now portraying our web-slinging hero Spider-Man in the MCU has just revealed the title of his next Spider-Man film in an Instagram post. Spider-Man: Far from Home, will be the second stand-alone Spider-Man Marvel Cinematic Universe film in partnership with Sony Pictures, and the first MCU phase 4 film. While currently there is no synopsis for the film, it will take place after Infinity War’s game-changing finger snap and the events of whatever happens in Avengers 4. However, it is mentioned that Spider-Man will be far from home. Apparently, they will be shooting some scenes in London, and in other locations across the world, hence why the title is what it is. SPOILER ALERT!!! As we all know or should know already, Peter Parker was one of the unfortunate characters during Infinity War to disintegrate during the final moments of the movie. Thanos managed to collect all the infinity stones and erase half of all life in the universe. So whatever th...

Have we failed them?

Have we failed them? Have we failed our youths? Children these says in different communities have been committing crimes for years, things like petty thefts, carjacking, robberies, assault. All of these have resulted in them being punished no doubt, but the questions still remain, how did they get this way? These children will go to juvenile detention, serve time, maybe take some classes and learn how to contribute to society but ultimately they go back to doing the same thing that got them arrested in the first place. Is it peer pressure? Lack of home stability or poor parenting? Or is it the community structure that failed them? These questions come up all the time, but not enough people are talking about it. Its a big problem for youths in the inner city as well as neighboring counties. Although crimes committed by juveniles have decreased over the years, it is still a big issue. A lot of it is due to limited access to afterschool programs and a flawed education system. ...

Disney/ Fox Deal has been accepted, pending shareholder votes

According to a report on C-Net, Fox has agreed to Disney’s new proposal to buy 21st Century Fox for $71.3 billion dollars in both cash and stock. Outbidding Comcast’s offer of $65 Million. “We are extremely proud of the businesses we have built at 21st Century Fox, and firmly believe that this combination with Disney will unlock even more value for shareholders as the new Disney continues to set the pace at a dynamic time for our industry,” said Fox Executive Chairman Rupert Murdoch in a separate press release. This comes as great new’s for Marvel Studios since Fox owns the rights to characters like the Fantastic 4, Deadpool, and the X-Men. Fans have been anticipating a massive movie crossover event since the MCU was conceived. Due to the issues with rights during that time the MCU was unable to incorporate those characters into the MCU. Fox has failed the first 2 Fantastic 4 movies, and then again with the reboot what was even worse than the first two films. For years MCU f...

Baltimore: The most Dangerous city in America?

From a person that has lived in Baltimore for their entire life, reading an article that talks about how dangerous your home is a bit disturbing. I am a semi-successful adult, just trying to make a living in this city it can be difficult to achieve because of the all the crime and blight that plagues the city. I can say that I do find it difficult to venture out in my own home of Baltimore at any given time of the day. With all the things that happen to innocent people out there, I get discouraged to enjoy what Baltimore has to offer. I have been robbed twice and shot just for traveling home from work. It makes me think twice about making a stop somewhere outside my normal day. Every year, Americans debate over which cities have the worst hoods. Although the murder rates dropped by 2% in the nations 50 largest cities according to a report by USA Today, Baltimore has been ranked the most dangerous city in America with over 56 homicides per 100,000 people in 2017, that’s higher than a...

How to be a Smart Gamer 101

I’ve been a gamer since I was at least 5 years old when my father brought us our first family console the Nintendo NES. On that system, we played games like Metroid, Mario, Mega-Man and Rad Racer. Those were the days I would play games until the break of dawn, and you had too because there was no saving your progress. Once that power went off, that’s it you start over from the beginning. Then we moved on to the next generation of consoles, I wanted the Super Nintendo for Christmas one year in the early 90’s but I ended up getting a Sega Genesis second generation. There I started playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2, along with other Sega titles. I continued to play my Genesis until my brother and I got a Sony PlayStation around holiday time in 1996. From there we would start playing games like Crash Bandicoot and Tomb Raider. Moving on to another gaming revolution when Microsoft came out with the XBOX, and my father got me and my brother out first XBOX system. From there came the XBO...
