It’s not a AFRO! AND It’s not OFFENSIVE!!!

Image
We are living in an age where anything someone does is offensive, you can’t do anything with out first evaluating if it’s going to offend someone somewhere.   Recently Kendall Jenner did a vogue photo shoot and she rocked this teased up hair that brought together her entire look. When I first saw the photo I realized it was focusing on the victorian era when woman wore their hair like that. I though the photo was beautiful and she looked great. Let’s get a few things clear so we can move on, Kendall Jenner is mixed with a few different races, as most of us are. It doesn’t matter how her hair was done for the photo shoot, I don’t think Vogue should have apologized to the public. It wasn’t offensive. I think this was a just an attack on Kendall because she was the source of some other controversial social issues in the past, and she has been kind of tone deaf to these instances, or she just doesn’t care and is unbothered by peoples outrage. The other point, is how ethnic woman ...

Image
The currently filming Wonder Woman Movie won’t be released until June of 2020. The original release date was for November 2019, however it seems like the the team behind the movie are more happy to have it release in Summer rather than the Fall. However Gal and Patty are thrilled about it the date change. Gal posted this on her Instagram today. So it looks like we’re going to have to wait a bit longer for Wonder Womans second installment.

CW’s Black Lightning Review

Black Lighting is a CW tv series staring Cress Williams that focuses on a school principle that has super powers, he also raises his two daughters with his on and off again wife. While Black Lightning is most definitely a unapologetically black nostalgia tv series, it discusses real issues that people can relate to in black communities. This is the reason why I love the show so much. Im a big fan of superhero TV shows and movies. This just adds to my collection. Although the show just like others does not stick to the standard super hero, “beat up the bad guy and stop him from taking over the world plot”. It instead focuses on real issues local issues that we are dealing with today, while adding government conspiracy theories. It does fall into the mobster/ shaft type category and even provides a nice sound track to some of the fight scenes which I love. It also focuses on “Black lives matter” epidemic that has been plaguing the world lately. This along with other outlandish issues...

CW’s Charmed: Episode 1 Review and breakdown

Image
I don’t completely hate it… yet So I just watched the first episode of the CW’s new Charmed. I am a die hard Charmed fan of the original series, and I’ve seen every season at least 50 times. This new show its a lot of things but its not horrible. I think a lot of the old fans are bashing it because they didn’t like the idea of there being a new Charmed series without the original cast. We wanted the return of the original cast of Charmed but it didn’t happen. This new take on the very core of what Charmed was is present in the new series, for what it is, it it setting up to be a good series if it’s done right. The first episode takes off like a rocket right into orbit, the long lost sister finds her sisters right after their mother is killed, and the girls vanquish their first demon, and learn to use their powers very quickly, which for me is odd and it felt rushed, like they wanted to get things going right away. The executive producer, writer and developer Jennie Snyder Urman, ...

Netflix/Marvel Iron Fist Cancelled

News just announced today that the Marvel Netflix show Iron Fist has been cancelled by the streaming service The show disappointed in it’s first season with bad raitings and low scores on rotten tomatoes, the second season although better still didn’t impress critics. Netflix and Marvel TV provided this joint statement to Deadline “ Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners. We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on. ” There is still hope that another network or streaming service may pick up the show, to continue it and with Disney opening their own streaming service it’s a possibility that the show could continue there in some capacity.

Gas Saving apps & tips

With high gas prices people do their best to find the best price per gallon to fill up their tanks. For the past year I have been using the Gas Buddy app to locate the best price per gallon in my area. Gas Buddy also introduced a gas card, that helps you save $.05 cents or more per gallon on each visit and can be used at many local gas stations. It doesn’t seem like much, but it does add up. So far I have saved around $25.00 dollars since I have signed up. Like I said it not significant since I have only used the gas card for a year but every little bit counts. How it works is that you link your bank account to the Gas Buddy app, Gas Buddy will issue you a fancy Gas Buddy card, it works just like a credit card, except 2-3 business days later your account will be debited the discounted amount that you spent at the pump. It will even work if you purchased a carwash with your fill up. For example, I spent $47.80 at the pump, Gas Buddy will only debit $47.11 from my account. I saved $0...

Venom: Movie Review

So I saw Venom over the weekend and it wasn’t a bad movie. Before I get into why I thought the movie was good, I will share with you what I didn’t like about the move. First, although it had some strong acting, Tom Hardy put on a great performance, the tone of the movie was a little rocky at first. Some of the other acting in the movie was a bit meh. Lines that should have been delivered a certain way came out sub par in my opinion. The movie dragged in the beginning, but I could guess the direction the plot was going in. I also counted one plot hole in the movie, it had something to do with how the main villain didn’t know who broke into the lab and had to ask his associate, you would think with a high security science research facility you would think they could have just reviewed security footage to find that out. Even though the movie had a few set backs, it was entertaining, funny, and action packed. It wasn’t all over the place like the critics on Rotten tomatoes said i...

So X-Men Dark Phoenix trailer…

Image
So we finally get to see the trailer for the delayed, reshoot, almost “canceled” Fox X-Men movie titled Dark Phoenix. The trailer debut on The late night show with James Corbin’s at 12:30AM with Sophie Turner as a guest last Wednesday. For lack of better words I wasn’t fully impressed and here is why. The first thing I noticed in the trailer was how depressing it was, we know that Jean is dealing with the phoenix force being locked up inside of her. We also find out that Charles did something to her when she was a little girl to keep the phoenix powers dormant, so flashbacks are involved. What I don’t understand is how she got the force in the first place. It had to have taken place before Apocalypse. So I think what we see in the trailer actually took place before Apocalypse. The other thing I hated was the ugly costumes they were wearing. One of my favorite moments at the end of Apocalypse was when they were in the danger room wearing these really cool costumes. So I don’t kno...
