Ma | Movie Review

A lonely middle-aged woman (Octavia Spencer) with mental issues befriends some teenagers and decides to let them party in the basement of her home, however things go wrong when Ma starts to let her past control her behavior. Storyline Ma is a bonified suspense thriller that follows a group of teens in a small town. Similar set up for movies we’ve all seen before. This story is completely original and takes a turn for the worse as the story progresses with suprises. Suspense Factor The movie is strange from the start however some of the greatest moments were during the second and third acts. The movie is rated R and for good reason. There are some very unfortunate scenes in the film and some moments I had to turn away from the screen. Acting Octavia Spencer has the creepy woman vibe down packed and her scenes outshine everyone else she shares them with. This is Octavia Spencers first thriller film, and her first headliner film and she completely delivers. Rewatch Value Ma is a m...

Aladdin | Movie Review

Aladdin is a 2019 American musical fantasy film directed by Guy Ritchie , who co-wrote the screenplay with John August . Produced by Walt Disney Pictures , it is a live-action adaptation of Disney’s 1992 animated film of the same name , which is based on the eponymous Middle Eastern folktale from One Thousand and One Nights . The film stars Will Smith , Mena Massoud , Naomi Scott , Marwan Kenzari , Navid Negahban , Nasim Pedrad , and Billy Magnussen . Plot Aladdin is a lovable street urchin who meets Princess Jasmine, the beautiful daughter of the sultan of Agrabah. While visiting her exotic palace, Aladdin stumbles upon a magic oil lamp that unleashes a powerful, wisecracking, larger-than-life genie. As Aladdin and the genie start to become friends, they must soon embark on a dangerous mission to stop the evil sorcerer Jafar from overthrowing young Jasmine’s kingdom. Storyline While the film has similarities to the original cartoon movie, there were some significant details that ...

Movie Review | Pokémon Detective Pikachu

Pokémon Detective Pikachu is the first live-action entry into the popular and long living video game franchise. The film was directed by Rob Letterman, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Dan Hernandez, Benji Samit, and Derek Connolly. Plot When Tim Goodman finds out his absent father was killed in a car crash he attempts to uncover what really happened to his Dad, when he does he finds his father’s detective pokemon partner Pikachu who to his surprise can talk to him. The two go on a grand adventure to find out the truth behind Tim’s fathers death. Storyline One of the biggest problems with the film is its cookie-cutter story. Although it was not obvious right away about who the antagonist was. The movie plays out like a typical cross and double crossed scenario where the person who you think it’s innocent and needs help to bring justice to the real antagonist turns out to be the antagonist the whole time. Acting Ryan Reynolds (Pikachu Voice) performance was amazing, he really...

New Game Of Thrones Slip Up Found!

Disney Assumes Full Control Over Hulu

Cutting the cord just got a lot more complicated. As of today, Disney is in full control over Hulu after purchasing AT&T’s 10 percent stake. This grows Disney’s ownership to 70 percent of the company. NBC Universal still owns 30 percent of Hulu, allowing them to keep their content on the service. Disney and NBC Universal made a deal that would keep NBC’s content on the streaming service until 2024, meanwhile NBC can monetize their content until then. NBC Universal can still pull its content in 3 years, this means Hulu customers will lose access to shows like SNL, The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, This is Us, Superstore, Will and Grace, and Good Girls among others. Don’t worry though, NBC is developing their own streaming service that is supposed to be available in 2020. But honestly, do we need another streaming service? People now have to choose what they want and what they are willing to pay for. We are seeing more and more networks and media giants starting streaming servi...

How Daenerys Is The Real Villain In Game of Thrones

I was very disappointed for several reasons after watching last nights episode of Game of Thrones. For 7 seasons we got to see how Daenerys Targaryen started making her way to take the iron throne because she becomes aware that the iron throne is her birthright. After Daenerys loses her husband and unborn child, she helps 3 dragons hatch from their eggs. With three dragons she conquers the cities of Yunkai, Astapor, and Meereen, with the determination of ending slavery and injustice. As we see Daenerys we think she is a savior, despite her strong moral compass, Daenerys is still capable of dealing ruthlessly with her enemies. We see that side of her a few times in past seasons, however nothing like this. In Episode 5 of season 8, Daenerys shows us her true colors by ignoring everyone and destroying Kings Landing and all the people in it out of pure rage even after they surrendered. The episode gave us the perspective of the people in Kings Landing which looked like ground zero. As t...

This Particular Scene In Avengers Endgame Was Shot Before…

It’s not uncommon for some movies to be made before others, just like prequels. Brie Larson had already shot scenes for Avengers Endgame and some scenes for Infinity War that ended up being used for Avengers Endgame later, then going on to shooting her own movie “Captain Marvel”. Some of the cast members from the upcoming MCU movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home have disclosed that the funeral scene in Avengers Endgame was shot before Black Panther had been released in theaters as well as three other MCU films. It was the first time that every major character from every MCU film was present on set to shoot a scene. Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame was shoot basically back to back and its also not uncommon to shoot scenes out of order due to schedules conflicts. I also find it very interesting when I hear things like this because the actors and actresses who play these characters do a very good job getting into character even though they have no idea what’s going on. Spider-Ma...

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Season 6

Image
Season 6 of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D premieres this Friday. The show takes place one year after the events of Avengers: Endgame, this means the time frame that the show begins should be 2023. The events that occurred in Avengers Infinity war affected lots of shows connected by the MCU, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is one of those shows that dealt directly with concepts of the Avengers and the MCU films. Half of all life vanished from existence at the end of Avengers Infinity War, then the Avengers were able to bring everyone back towards the end of Avengers Endgame. We currently don’t know how these events affected Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D however we know it can’t be ignored in the show specifically since there is a major time jump of 5 years. Guess we will find out on Friday when the first episode for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D premieres on ABC (WMAR) at 8 pm est. Take a look at the trailer and an extended scene from the show. Alternate Realities and Dimensions Were Teased Back In Doctor Strange

Image
The last “Phase three” Marvel Studio’s film “Spider-Man: Far From Home” has released its 3rd and final trailer prior to tickets going on sale. The film will take place during the aftermath of Avengers Endgame. Peter is still greaving over the loss of Tony Stark while still being the friendly neighborhood Spiderman taking down armed robbers. Enter new plot device. The third trailer gives away some major details about the future of the MCU. In the trailer, Quentin Beck (Mysterio), played by Jake Gyllenhaal explains he is from another earth, and that the Snap ripped an interdimensional hole in time and space allowing the elementals to travel to this world to wreak havoc. Some people speculate that Quentin is not being honest about his intentions here because he is known to be a master manipulator and he is a master illusionist. Whatever the case may be, it seems as though events that have occurred in MCU past may have played a part in the aftermath of Avengers Endgame. In the Doctor ...

Avengers: Endgame | Deleted Scene Details

((( SPOILERS AHEAD))) Now that Avengers Endgame is out there in the world we can now talk freely about the film and its details. The Russo Brothers spoke to the HappySadConfused podcast to discuss the movie. Katherine Langford (13 Reasons Why) was cast to take a secret role in the film. Many people speculated that she would become Kate Bishop, a Hawkeye protege however this was not the case. Now that the film is out we noticed that Katherine was nowhere to be found in the movie. The Russo Brothers said they had an idea that when Tony snapped his fingers to get rid of Thanos and his army that he would be sent to a metaphysical world similar to where Thanos goes to talk to young Gamora during Avengers: Infinity War. There in this world, Tony would encounter an older version of his daughter Morgan, played by Langford. The scene was intended to assure that Tony’s daughter would be OK and that he could go in peace. The Russo’s said they did shoot the scene, and during test screenings, ...

Who Else Spotted This Strange Object In Last Nights Game Of Thrones

Image
Last night during Game Of Thrones Season 8, Episode 4, a bazaar object was spotted in the first 18-20 min into the episode. During the celebration scene of the episode, you can clearly spot what looks like a Starbucks coffee cup sitting on the table near where Daenerys was sitting. It looks as if it was there for a brief moment, possibly during changing angles Emilia Clarke who played “Daenerys” took a sip of coffee in between takes and forgot it was there. We don’t know if this was an editorial mistake, or if it was placed there purposely. Many people suggest that the crew were getting lazy and forgot to remove the cup, I mean they made us wait over a whole year while they filmed these last 6 episodes and couldn’t remove an abnormal object from the scene. Even still, there is a way to digitally remove unwanted objects from a scene and this could have been just an oversight. This particular episode was also the lowest-rated episode for GOT history. Could they be losing their edge? ...

Avengers Endgame Oscar Worthy?

Marvel Studios Avengers Endgame is a lot of things, but is it Oscar worthy? The studio had a screening with the Acadamy for potentially having it nominated for best picture. This is the second Marvel film to be considered for an academy award nomination after Black Panther which was also nominated for Best Picture last year. Superhero movies used to be looked at as “sell out” films because of their potential to earn a lot from the box office and not being very good. Avengers Endgame earned over 1 Billion dollars in its opening weekend, it was well received by critics and audiences. The film itself does more than just be a good superhero movie. It was very well written, well directed and well structured. The performances were top notch from our Marvel cast. A bunch of A list actors has spoken out in the past, saying that the people who take roles to be in a superhero film do it for the money and there’s no real acting in those kinds of films. Over the past 11+ years, superhero fil...
