The Sony+Marvel+Disney DEAL | Spider-Man In Limbo

You’ve all probably heard by now that Disney and Sony have been renegotiating contracts so that Marvel Studio’s can continue to make Spider-Man movies, make money and so that Spider-Man can continue to appear in future MCU films. The original agreement was that Sony would make 100% of the box office income for Spider-Man films, and Marvel would take any revenue from Spider-Man merchandise, including comics. The contract allowed Marvel Studios to not only make Spider-Man films but also use Peter Parker/ Spider-Man in the MCU for crossovers, and continue to be a staple in the powerhouse movie franchise. When the negotiations were happening Disney asked that all profits from the box office be split 50/50, Sony declined the offer. “The Kitchen” | Film Review

The Kitchen is based on the DC Vertigo miniseries comics of the same name which is the more adult graphic comic book publisher from DC comics. The film was written and directed by Andrea Berloff, in her directorial debut. The film stars Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, and Elisabeth Moss as the wives of Irish mobsters who take over organized crime operations in the 1970’s New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood after the FBI arrests their husbands. Plot The source material was adapted from a comic book, and while comics are usually great for movie adaptations, the Kitchen seemed like a great non-superhero story to tell. The story was very straightforward, and kind of predictable. There were some twists and surprising moments that were unexpected however the film had potential to be better. It felt the writers stayed close to the source material with no room to branch out. Parts of the storyline of the film felt all over the place, but the pacing kept you invested in the film. ...
