“Like A Boss” | Movie Reivew

Best friends Mia and Mel run their own cosmetics company. A business they built from the ground up. They become in debt due a poor business strategy that lead them to a buyout offer. Things get ugly when the two best friends are put to the ultimate test that challenges the very fabric of their friendship and their core business values.

The film starts Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne, Salma Hayek, Billy Porter, Jacob Latimore, and Jennifer Coolidge.

While the film is very much funny at its core while held up by Haddish, Byrne is seamlessly outshined by Tiffany’s performances in every scene they have together. Some moments that were meant to be funny fall flat on several occasions.

Some of the comedic moments were misfires causing the film to be a lackluster of a comedy. Billy Porter, Salma Hayek, and Jennifer Coolidge stole every scene they were in and had superb performances, they were outstanding.

Like a Boss felt like a film that was just thrown together just for the fun of it for Rose and Tiffany. The story was predicable and people will say they have seen similar storylines like this that were already done before. “Like a Boss” did not bring anything new to the “Small business owners won’t be taken by the bigger corporation because we care about the people more” cookie-cutter storyline.

If you ask me “Like a Boss” felt like a Netflix original, and if it had been released on the streaming service it may have done better.

Because “Like a Boss” featured my faves ill give them a 6.5 out of 10
