Facebook and personal data, plus how to stay safe online

Image
There have been some reports that Facebook is monitoring call and text data from android devices when you install the facebook messenger app. Facebook denies these accusations, however people still wonder if their personal call and text data is safe. Apparently the reports have only mentioned Android phones and not iPhones specifically, however the facebook messenger app when installed on a apple or droid device will still ask to access you call logs, call data, and contact list. People don't often read the disclaimers when they install apps and they are giving the apps permission to read, write and transmit data. The same thing goes for the games on facebook, you have to sign in to the game via facebook and when doing that you are giving permission for facebook to provide personal data from your profile like your birthday, full name and possibly telephone number. Who knows who creates these games and apps. Hackers love posting fake or information phishing links. Like the

Love Simon Review

Image
Love, Simon is a 2018 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Greg Berlanti, written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, and based on the novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. The film stars Nick Robinson, Josh Duhamel, and Jennifer Garner. Love Simon is a beautiful love story about a high school boy who is struggling with his truth. Simon hasn't told his friends and family that he is gay, but when he falls for an anonymous classmate online things start to unravel and he starts his journey of self discovery. I enjoyed this film, it was funny, sweet and it broke the stereotypical views of the LGBTQ community. However, it didn't touch on the issue of coming out and not being accepted by friends and family, which are the real experiences of a lot of individuals facing these issues in the real world. However the movie is a step in the right direction of evolving the stories LGBTQ and helping them reach the world. Love Simon Trailer

Tomb Raider Review

Image
Tomb Raider is back in the re-imagined version of the beloved video game character the one and only Laura Croft! The video game that originally released in 1996 exclusively on the Play Station One and had its own movies back in the early 2000's was rebooted after Crystal Dynamics decided to reboot the character while re-establishing the origins of Laura Croft. The first reboot game was released in 2013 and titled Tomb Raider. The game starts Laura off on the island of Yamatai where the not yet explorer and battle ready Laura goes to extreme lengths to save her friends and escape while being hunted down by a malevolent cult. The new movie released March 16th, 2018 in theaters, takes the similar story from the rebooted video game and applies it to the new movie. Instead of Angelina Jolie this time around actress Alicia Vikander takes on the role of Laura, and based on early reviews and me witnessing the movie for my self she is the best part of the reboot. If you played the

Why you shouldn't always read movie reviews

Image
There have been plenty times I believed that bad reviews for a movie means I shouldn't go see the movie, sometimes they are right, but most times they are wrong. A lot of people have unfortunately let critics discourage them from watching a movie, or waiting to see it on DVD. When we think about what makes us want to go see a movie in theaters, we think about the story, who is in it, what genre it is, and if the trailer was exciting enough to entice us to go see it. Back in the day before the internet gave us the ability to watch movie trailers over and over, and before there was a channel dedicated to showing only movie trailers. "Yeah there is a channel dedicated to current movie trailers" The only way we would know a movie was about to come out was a TV commercial, we saw a billboard somewhere, in a newspaper, or you went to the movies to see a movie and you saw the trailer featured there. Now with the power of the internet and social media we know when a mo

Obamas negotiate Netflix series

Image
Former president Barack Obama are in advanced negotiations to produce Netflix series of high profile shows. Netflix has over 118 million subscribers and Barack plans to use that platform to reach his audience. The Obamas plan to create stories that inspire people and they always believed in the power of storytelling. It was mentioned that Barack does not plan to create content that will respond directly to current President Trump. However Netflix will give the Obamas an unfiltered method of communication with the public similar to his audience he already reaches via social media. Apple and Amazon have both expressed interest in talking with Mr. Obama about content deals. This deal between the Obamas and Netflix could be a modern twist on an approach that former politicians have attempted in the past.

The stupid SHIT Trump tweets

Image
Im not a big political person, but ever since Trump became president I had to start following Trump on twitter, just to see what kind of dumb things he tweets, Trumps quotes have gotten more and more outrageous overtime, and he writes into twitter at least 4 to 5 times per day. "We must protect our country and our workers. Our steel industry is in bad shape. IF YOU DON’T HAVE STEEL, YOU DON’T HAVE A COUNTRY!" ~ @realDonaldTrump  I thought the people of America makes the Country? 🤔 Trump made a promise back when he was running for president that he would bring back steel jobs to America, after job cuts were made however it seems this hasn't happened yet. "Alec Baldwin, whose dying mediocre career was saved by his terrible impersonation of me on SNL, now says playing me was agony. Alec, it was agony for those who were forced to watch. Bring back Darrell Hammond, funnier and a far greater talent!" ~ @realDonaldTrump Im sorry, with everything thats

WHY I QUIT THE RIDE SHARE JOB WITH UBER AND LYFT!

Image
When I joined Uber back in 2014 my idea was to make some extra money. I mean who doesn't want to make extra money? I had just brought a nicer car and needed an extra boost of income to help pay it off. So this option seemed perfect for me at the time. Uber was a great start for me and my little Nissan Sentra, I would spend most of my time driving downtown picking up people from bars, shopping areas, and universities. At the time the money was ok. Also, because I worked a full-time job, I only had time for Uber on the weekends, so I would spend Friday and Saturday nights hitting the town with strangers. In 2016 I decided to leave Uber and drive for Lyft exclusively. I know many drivers drive for both companies, however I wanted things to be easier for me. At the time Uber didn't offer instant pay out after a night of driving. Lyft did, and this was a good advantage for me to use. I could go out and make a quick $40 bucks in 2 hours and pay myself right away without havin

A Wrinkle in Time Review, A Terrific Family Movie!!!! (NO SPOILERS)

Image
I read numerous reviews about Disney's "A Wrinkle in Time" and I thought, "wow is it really that bad?" So me and my family saw it, and we all seem to enjoy the movie. I analyzed every part of the movie to see what was so bad. I didn't see anything wrong with the movie at all, it was thought provoking, beautiful, family oriented, and a love letter to not only young girls but young minority girls specifically. The story line was however predictable, but it was a story from a book that was written in the 60's, and a book that I read as a child. All the acting was perfect, I had no complaints about each characters behavior and focus, however I did think "Calvin", Meg's potential love interest was a bit out of place, he didn't add any diversity to the story, it felt like he was just there for the ride. The way he ends up going on the adventure with Meg and Charles Wallace felt out of place, and I don't remember it being that

BREAKING NEWS: Kristen Wiig confirmed for Wonder Woman 2!!!

Image
It has been officially confirmed on a tweet by Patty Jenkins, director of the first Wonder Woman movie that actress Kristin Wiig will take on the role of Cheetah the main villain in Wonder Woman 2. Of course the internet is freaking out about this. One side is excited about the news, others are on the fence and everyone else is just saying NO to this. I on the other hand want this so bad, I wanna see Kristen transform into the actress she deserves to be. I love her because she is funny and talented, and she has proven to be able to take on many roles. It is hard for me and others to see her in more serious roles because of her track record and movies she's been in, however I believe that Patty Jenkins and Kristen can make this work and its going to be phenomenal. We've also seen castings that we thought was a bad choice like Heath Ledger, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot, and each time we were proven wrong. So I trust that this choice was a good one and I believe that

Kristin Wigg as Cheetah in Wonder Woman 2 and about the villain Cheetah: Update!!!

Image
There have been reports that Saturday Night Live alumni Kristin Wiig is in talks to play the role of Cheetah, Wonder Woman's most oldest foe's, it has been confirmed by a tweet from Patty Jenkins that Kristen will take on this role for the next movie! See my next post about this breaking news! Who is Cheetah? Dr. Barbara Minerva, alias Cheetah, is a British archaeologist who had gained a reputation of going to any lengths to secure an artifact. In her original incarnation, crafted by Wonder Woman creator William Moulton Marston, she had no superpowers, just a burning jealousy of Wonder Woman and a spotted cat costume. But in her modern incarnation, Cheetah has been molded into something of a funhouse mirror of Wonder Woman’s drive and origins. She is also a woman who is endowed with godly power, but where Diana derives her powers from gods who she loves and respects, Cheetah sought power for more selfish reasons. And her godly patrons are anything but

Infinity War and the Infinity Stones in the MCU!

Image
We all know for the last 10 years all 18 Marvel movies have been setting up for something bigger. Well on April 27th the movie we all been waiting for will be in theaters. Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War. What originally was supposed to be a 2 part movie is now one movie in it self. Although there will be an Avengers 4 slated to release on May 3rd 2019, almost 1 year after Infinity War. This movie is supposed to be the aftermath of infinity war. Some of the most powerful objects in the Marvel Universe are the infinity stones. The stones predate the universe it self and were around before all life was formed. We learn in the comics that these stones should never be used together or at all because they are too powerful and whoever possesses them all can dominate the entire universe. This is exactly what is happening in the MCU. The Mad Titan Thanos is on a mission to obtain all 6 infinity stones by any means necessary. When we saw the Infinity War trailer we see Thanos

Why I refuse to go to the mall

Image
Back in the day before social media dominated the world as we know it, malls were the best place to go to meet people, do stuff, hang out, watch a mess of things happen, and shop. However malls have begun to fade away. Now don't get me wrong there are still top malls in the country that are doing well because of their size and number of shops, however it was the smaller malls in the country that have faded away over time. I'm from Baltimore Maryland, and one of the malls we had here "Owings Mills Mall" was completely demolished in 2017, with new construction of a open area "town center" beginning in 2018. I worked in Owings Mills Mall for a few months at a kiosk and during that time I watched the decline in traffic, while the entire east wing was vacant after it lost one of its anchor department stores. I meet a friend while I worked there and he worked at Boscov's another anchor department store. Not long after we became friends he was inform

Stop those annoying SPAM callers TODAY!

Image
Ok so getting spam, bot calls, telemarketers asking you about getting insurance on your boat when you don't have one is all very annoying isn't it! Day after day I get these annoying calls that either hang up on me, or some person with a deep accent trying to get me to buy a warranty on a car that I don't own anymore, or they are trying to scam me into giving them my credit card information, so I can subscribe to a magazine to get a free stay in a hotel. Or a caller pretending to be the FBI or some government agency saying they have information on you and you may have to attend trial if you don't settle a debt, that they claim they can't disclose to you. People get scammed by these types of calls all the time. Now that we are able to ignore most of our spam emails, we still have to watch out for them calls that try to trick us into giving away our private information. It becomes even more annoying when you get those calls on your cell phone. These spammers a
